Hammered Arts & Crafts Pumpkin Copper Vase > 50202-90
Weight: 2.6 pounds
Our price: $125.00
This is a round pumpkin-like copper vase we got from the copper-smiths in Santa Clara del Cobre, Mexico. The hammer footprint is very visible because hammer is mostly the only tool used to get this piece of art.
The reddish/oxidized texture is characteristic of natural copper when it is cooled down from red-hot temperature using cold water. This vase was made from one sheet of copper, raised with the artist hammer, there are no one welded joints.
Hammering the red-hot copper is an ancient technique where no sophisticated tools are used, just the furnace to heat the copper and a hammer to give it the shape. This is a unique gift for your loved ones or for yourself, as a flower vase looks terrific!
