This is a tall hammered copper vase we got from the copper-smiths in Santa Clara del Cobre, Mexico. The hammer footprint is very visible in the rest of the vase because hammer is mostly the only tool used to get this piece of art.
The reddish/oxidized texture is characteristic of natural copper when it is cooled down from red-hot temperature using cold water. This vase was made from one sheet of copper, raised with the artist hammer, there are no one welded joints.
Hammering the red-hot copper is an ancient technique where no sophisticated tools are used, just the furnace to heat the copper and a hammer to give it the shape. This is a unique gift for your loved ones or for yourself, as a flower vase looks terrific!
