This kitchen copper sink can be under-mounted or over-the-counter-mounted. In the first case the granite sits on top of the sink border, in the second one, the sink border sits on top of the granite. A unique addition to your farm-house style kitchen. It has a standard 3.75" diameter drainage opening in a single compartment. The copper sheet is 14 gauge (0.064" thickness). This hammered kitchen copper sink is a beautiful piece of art finished in natural copper color, from the pictures you can see the dark spots the copper makes when heated and cooled down. It is slightly rounded at the bottom part.
From a copper sheet the wise artisan hands transform it into this unique piece. The hammer footprint is very visible, giving it its own character. The reddish/oxidated texture is characteristic of natural copper when it is cooled down from red-hot temperature using cold water. That specific characteristic is what makes it so beautiful. The border around the four sides of the sink is 2.5", which makes the bowl 28"x17"x9.5", small variations are expected though. This copper sink was mostly raised with the artist hammer.
The techniques used by Santa Clara del Cobre craftsmen is the same one used for several centuries, where no sophisticated tools are used, just the furnace to heat the copper and a hammer to give it the shape. Along your home decoration, this piece it will add a unique touch to your kitchen making it a very special point of attraction.
This copper sink might become greenish faster than the vintage-looking/weathered ones because the copper is directly exposed to the environment, just keep it as dry as you can to preserve it longer with the current color textures.
